2007 – Graduated Vilnius Art Academy (ceramics) .

1984 – Graduated the School of Applied Arts in Kaunas and received a diploma in design and decoration.

1977 Graduated the Vilnius Pedagogical School

Creating art

Creation for me is a journey in search for the answers to the questions raised for the day. The themes and materials vary greatly. I apply various techniques that I learned over several years in various courses. It is especially interesting to play with various materials such as textile, clay, metal, Styrofoam, stone, wrap, etc. Materials create certain associations, and mood. I want my pieces “to speak” and “to touch” the observer. I want them to be amazing and to speak to the observers silently and aloud.

My works relate about certain states, moments or long lasting search for an answer to a question.

They are based on various themes, starting with a woman’s wish to cut herself free from stereotypes, everyday life, to distance herself from worldly goods.

Longing for a deeper, fuller, healthier life is a door to the new quality.

When you feel exhausted, tired, depressed, bewildered, dissatisfied with yourself, then you feel afraid, hesitate, feel lack of inspiration and joy and fullness of life. Then you are continuously nervous and cannot find the solution and seek for revival that you need. You then feel weak and helpless, and you feel that you give your creative powers to others, that you do not trust yourself and suffer from undue shyness, that you cannot renew yourself and recover from never-ending everyday work. But your other side is a healthy, lively, energetic woman who has her own territory, is inventive, loyal, funny and agile. When separated from her nature, a woman weakens and reduces. (“A Moment”)

When we want to refresh our souls, we meditate, explore our dreams and start creating. When we try to be ourselves, we become unacceptable to many others, and when we try to please others and to meet their requirements, we have to renounce ourselves. It is therefore important to realize the difference between what attracts and tempts us and what our souls actually long for.

The essence of the piece “Talk to me” lies in misunderstanding, fear to tell our thoughts which make us doubt, and which, as it later proves to be true, have long been waited for by somebody. What matters, is timely utterance of words which, if uttered later, may seem to be meaningless; whereas timely words may heal and strengthen a person.

“Therapy” is about the bonds between a human and nature. Nature fills us with vital forces, strengthens us, purifies, heals and renews us. It is a mutual relation and harmony between a human and nature. Nature helps us and nourishes us, it provides us with all its goods, and all we have to do is to accept it properly…

My pieces are like my children – they are all different, each of them has its own character and face, and each of them lives its own life.
